Rebranding

The Project

Redesigning our website was part of our rebranding. Showing the experience was just as important as showing the product. Displaying high resolution renders of what the consumer will receive. Also demonstrating the experience through detailed visuals on the game board. As both a hardware company and a game company it was crucial to demonstrate this successfully.

A 2D video can't show you what a 3D experience is like. It was a challenge to show users what they would get with the CastAR system. The hardware changed significantly since the kick starter days and its time to unveil the new and improved SightCast hardware and experience!

My Role

Responsible for creating all imagery on the website, including hardware renderings from Maya and experiential imagery using photoshop.

The Process

At the start of this project, I explored some layouts with the "About Us" and "Developers" page before switching to rendering the hardware. The Arnold rendering engine was completely different from Mental Ray, which was what I was accustomed to. The hardware models were also incredibly dense they were modeled using CAD and Rhino. By the time I received the .OBJ file it was in pretty bad shape. It was tricky getting a realistic look without using textures because textures would show all of the flawed geometry on the model.

The next part of my task was showing the experiential side of SightCast (CastAR). We didn't have any video with special effects, so photoshopping the graphics onto the board was the way to go.
